A BRUSSELS’ EVENING: traditional old games & dinner near the Grand’Place

Location: Ilot Sacré and Grand’Place area

Scenario & timing (example):

19.00: In a cosy pub (Ilot Sacré): Welcome and introduction about the different beers we selected for you.

Per participant: 2 glasses of beer, wine or soft drinks + an assortment of Belgian cheese and meat.

Old wooden Games. Belgium has a very important tradition of wooden games. These games were played in pubs.We selected severals games. An assistant gives the necessary explanation and will at the end calculate the results per participant or per team.

20.15: At a gastronomic restaurant in the city center (5’ walking):

Belgium, its beers & cheeses…

Belgian beers and cheeses are numerous.
Mostly monks have contributed to the Belgian cheese specificity.

On the current territory of Belgium more than seventy abbeys existed in the order of the Cistercians alone. Several of these have continued the tradition of pure artisan production.

Not only of cheese, but "everything that goes with it"...: bread, artisanal syrups and especially the famous abbey beers which are making of Belgium "the"country of beers.

Example of scenario & timing:

19.00: In a privatized part of a pub: Welcome & introduction from our ‘monk in charge’ concerning our beer selection. Per participant : 4 glasses 16cl, to choose from a list of 6 beers or 2 glasses of soft drinks + an assortment of Belgian cheeses.

20.15: in an outstanding restaurant at 5’ of walk :

A PRIVATE CASINO EVENING

SCENARIO & TIMING

(3’ by foot from the Gare Centrale and the Grand’Place).

19.00 : Welcome, aperitif + zakouskis, introduction to the game (American Roulette) and 1st competition.

19.45: Starter: Tartare de Crevettes Grises et Ecrevisses, fromage blanc aux fines herbes
20.15: Second competition

20.45: Main course: Filet d’Anvers de Veau au fromage ‘Passendale’, Emincée d’Artichaut

21.30: Third competition.

A COMICAL DINNER

We organize a ‘comical dinner’ in a privatized space for your group (min. 20p, max. 80 people) in a restaurant in the city centre or in the heart of the Marolles district.

A dinner with Ed, professional actor:

It’s with great pleasure that we can present you Ed. He will make his appearance as a:

- PICCOLO: he welcomes the guests with a joke during the aperitif (2 glasses of wine, beer, juice + 2 zakouskis/person)

- MASTER OF CEREMONIES…

- COOK…

- HANDYMAN…

- FOOTMAN: as a lackey from the opera he will distribute chocolates from Ferrero-Rocher in a golden tower to announce the coffee.

A SWISS DINNER, your network-dinner in Brussels…

A DYNAMIC DINNER (DRUMMING)

We organize a ‘dynamic dinner’ in a privatized room for your group (max. 30 people) in a charming gastronomic restaurant in the city centre, at 5 ' walking of Grand 'place, 3' from the central station.

A dinner with a drumming experience…

Drumming is a highly effective method of breaking down barriers. It creates a platform from which people can learn how valuable it is to listen to one another and learn from each other.

Benefits of drumming:
-decreases stress
-learning to co-operate
-creating a unity and team spirit
-breaking down barriers (hierarchy, age, gender, culture and language)

3 sessions between the courses.

Musical welcome of the guests and aperitif .

WALK, PLAY & EATING IN THE MAROLLES


Date & timing: to agree (total duration = approx. 5h)

The welcome: at the Poelaertplein (Palace of Justice)

THE ACTIVITIES: The program contains 3 parts:

A guided walk at foot

During an hour the participants will discover all kinds of picturesque places in the Marolles.

Old Traditional Games

After the guided walk, it’s play-time with our wooden traditional games.

Each region in Belgium has his own ‘old games’. The most games were played in the cafés. A bilingual animator ensures the necessary explanation at the 10 different games and keeps the scores.

In the meantime a drink (aperitif) is served.

The dinner: Awaiting the proclamation of the winner of the traditional games, in another space the dinner is served (3 Courts + ½ bottle wine by person). Individual choice on the spot!

A GUIDED WALK, SHOOTING WITH THE CROSS BOW & DINNER in the heart of Brussels - "MAROLLES"

Have you heard of the Marolles, the colourful old district of Brussels where you can meet ordinary folk who have retained their individualism?

Date & timing: to agree (total duration +- 4.5h).

The program is composed of 3 elements:

The guided Walk (1.5h)
From the famous Palais de Justice to the ‘Eglise de la Chapelle’ to discover all the facets of this ‘little village’ at the heart of Belgium’s cosmopolitan capital.

SHOOTING WITH THE CROSS-BOW (1h) IN THE CELLARS OF ONE OF THE MOST VENERABLE SOCIETIES OF BRUSSELS: The ANCIEN GRAND SERMENT ROYAL ET NOBLE DES ARBALETRIERS DE NOTRE-DAME AU SABLON!
The guild was officially recognised in 1213 by the Duke of Brabant and is intimately linked with the earliest history of the town of Brussels.

Emperor Charles V, the Count of Egmont and the Infanta Isabella came to be installed as ‘Kings of the Shoot’. In 1853, the Belgian King Leopold the first, donated the Guild a banner and a collar for the King of the Shoot. Since then, the Guild added ‘Royal et Noble’ to its name. King Albert I, Leopold III, King Baudouin and Albert II visited the Guild or accepted the Grand Mastership.

The Dinner (+- 2h) in a nice restaurant:

Scenario & timing (example):

19.00: Welcome and introduction about the different beers:
Orval, Leffe, St-Bernardus, Kriek, Duvel, White beer or others + an assortment of Belgian cheeses, meats & sausages.

A monk gives the necessary explanation.

19.30:
Opening of the ‘Flemish Fair’, with 5 different stands:

A MUST ‘ALL CHOCOLATE’

SCENARIO & TIMING
(example, timing can be adapted to your wishes):

18.00 : Welcome at the Chocolate & Cocoa Museum, at a chocolate maker or at the House of Belgian Chocolate makers: we start with a guided visit, and discover (and taste) the world of chocolate. The highlight of the visit is a demonstration given by a master chocolate maker showing how pralines are made in a traditional way and of course tasting of different handmade chocolates.

Or:

Guided tour (walk) from (Sablon, Grand’Place, Royal Galleries) including tasting of the products of three ‘top’ chocolate makers

19.15 : we welcome you at our restaurant (city center) & presentation of the Menu « Tout chocolat »:

“Beer, Food & Music in the city”

Group: from 5 to 25 people.

Possibility of organizing several groups at the same time.

We organize a ‘beer walk & dinner’ with live music during the ‘starter’, the main course and the ‘dessert’ in 3 different places in the city center.

- departure from your hotel, the Central Station or your seminar center (town centre)

- Visited area: Manneken-Pis, the Town square (Grand’Place), the Ilot Sacré and the Royal Galleries Saint-Hubert.

- First stop: 1 Special Belgian Beer + cheese (starter) + live music

- Second Stop: 1 Special Belgian Beer + a main course prepared with beer + live music

- Third Stop in a tavern to drink another artisan Belgian beer + Live music & end of our program.
